admin 10e6c69af8 fix(pwa): prepare beforeinstallprompt listener early to avoid event loss
The previous install flow had a timing race: the
`beforeinstallprompt` event fires at unpredictable times after
page load (often ~30s+ into the session, when Chrome's heuristic
finally decides the user is engaged). If the listener was
attached only inside the dialog's onClick handler, by the time
the user clicked OK the event had already fired into the void
and the deferred prompt was null — so `install()` returned
"unavailable" every time.

The new flow attaches the listener as early as possible:

1. `pwaUtil.prepareInstallPrompt()` — new public method that
   calls the private `attachListener()`. Idempotent (guard via
   `listenersAttached`).

2. `pwaUtil.canPromptInstall()` — companion getter that returns
   whether a deferred event is currently cached. Useful for UI
   to decide whether to even show the install CTA.

3. `pwa-install-overlay.tsx` — calls `prepareInstallPrompt()`
   right after the isSupported / isInstalled guards. The overlay
   mounts when the user enters /chat, so this is the earliest
   practical point in the user flow.

4. `pwa-screen.tsx` — calls `prepareInstallPrompt()` BOTH at
   module load (synchronous, so the listener is attached before
   the splash screen's useEffects run) AND in a useEffect for
   robustness. The splash screen is the very first screen the
   user sees, so attaching here is the earliest possible.

5. `pwa-install-dialog.tsx` — `handleInstall` is now async,
   and `onInstall` accepts `() => void | Promise<void>`. The
   overlay calls `await pwaUtil.install()` so the deferred
   prompt flow can complete before the dialog unmounts.

Together: the listener is now attached from the moment the
splash screen module loads, the deferred prompt is captured
whenever Chrome decides to fire the event, and the dialog's
install button can reliably `prompt()` against the cached
deferred. The full install flow now works end-to-end.

admin c07a10ee80 refactor(splash): handle Skip redirect in splash screen, decouple SplashButton
Previously, the Skip button (guest login entry) relied on the auth
state machine's `pendingRedirect` flag to trigger the navigation
to /chat after guest login completed. That introduced a
non-obvious coupling: the button dispatched an event, the machine
ran an actor, the auth screen (or splash useEffect) saw the flag
and redirected.

This refactor moves the redirect into the splash screen itself:

- `SplashButton` now takes an `onSkip` prop and no longer knows
  about auth dispatch. Pure presentation component.
- `SplashScreen` provides `handleSkip` that dispatches the
  `AuthGuestLoginSubmitted` event AND immediately calls
  `router.replace(/chat)` for snappier perceived navigation.
- `auth-machine.ts`: `loadingGuestLogin.onDone` no longer sets
  `pendingRedirect: true` (splash already navigated). Sets
  it to `false` explicitly so other screens (auth, sidebar) that
  also react to `pendingRedirect` don't double-navigate if the
  user triggers guest login from a non-splash surface in the future.

No behavior change for the happy path: Skip → /chat works the same.
The refactor is purely about responsibility allocation and
component decoupling.

admin 9ffa30cc03 style: remove markdown bold syntax from code comments
Remove `**...**` emphasis markers from inline comments and JSDoc blocks across
auth and chat components, machine mappers, and quota helpers. These are
plain code comments, not rendered markdown, so the bold syntax was noise.

Files touched:
- src/app/auth/components/auth-screen.tsx
- src/app/chat/components/chat-header.tsx
- src/app/chat/components/chat-screen.tsx
- chat machine mapper / quota helpers

No functional or behavioral changes.

admin 29776272ad fix(auth): handle null backend values and surface login errors on splash
Two related fixes for OAuth login failures:

- `UserSchema`: backend (Facebook/Apple) returns `null` for fields like
  `email`; Zod's `.default("")` rejects `null`, causing silent login
  failures. Introduce `stringOrEmpty` / `numberOrZero` / `booleanOrFalse`
  helpers (`nullable().transform(v => v ?? x).default(x)`) and apply
  across the schema so input accepts `string | null | undefined` while
  output stays the typed primitive.

- `SplashScreen`: render `state.errorMessage` (set by auth state machine
  `onError`, e.g. Facebook sync / schema mismatch) so users no longer
  get stuck on splash without feedback.

admin ed4ccddae3 refactor(chat): decouple chat state from auth and gate quota alerts to guests
- Remove ChatAuthStatusChanged dispatch from auth login flow; chat screen now subscribes directly to auth state machine (loginStatus) to derive isGuest and drive WS lifecycle
- Gate quota-exceeded and warning dialogs to guests only (non-guests have no message limit)
- Dispatch ChatLoadMoreHistory for non-guest initial load vs ChatInit for guests
- Fix AppConstants import path from @/core/constants/app_constants to @/core/app_constants
- Add defensive isGuest checks in quota effects to prevent non-guest quota triggers

kanban e2a57386e7 refactor(auth): funnel OAuth signIn into auth state machine
Move new AuthPlatform(provider).signIn() out of UI components and into
the auth state machine. UI now dispatches AuthGoogle/FacebookLoginSubmitted
events; a new oauthSignIn actor inside the machine calls next-auth/react's
signIn(provider). Errors and the OAuth redirect window are exposed via
the existing state.isLoading / state.errorMessage surface, removing the
local busy / error state in auth-facebook-panel.

admin 47591be41c refactor(auth): unify Facebook and Google login into AuthPlatform class
Replace the separate FacebookLogin and GoogleLogin classes with a single
AuthPlatform class that takes a provider name ("facebook" | "google") as a
constructor argument. This consolidates duplicate OAuth sign-in logic behind
one entry point while preserving the existing NextAuth flow.

- Add new src/lib/auth/auth_platform.ts exporting AuthPlatform and
  AuthProvider type
- Update auth-facebook-panel.tsx and splash-button.tsx to use the new API
- Rename initialContext → initialState in the auth machine for consistency
- Update inline docs and comments to reference AuthPlatform

No behavioral change for end users; both providers still route through
NextAuth's signIn() with the same callbacks and cookies.

admin d70e61f92e refactor(auth): switch to class-based social login and v4 route handler
Migrate from function-based social login helpers (`facebookLogin`, `googleLogin`)
to class-based services (`new FacebookLogin().signIn()`, `new GoogleLogin().signIn()`),
updating call sites in `AuthFacebookPanel` and `SplashButton` with try/catch error
handling. The NextAuth route handler is also refactored to the v4 pattern, importing
pre-built `GET` / `POST` exports from `@/lib/auth/nextauth` instead of constructing
the handler inline with `NextAuth(authOptions)`.

admin 8cab34864e feat(ui): migrate Flutter UI library to Next.js 16 (App Router)
Migrate all 87 Dart files from /Users/chase/Documents/cozsweet/lib/ui/
to TypeScript React components, replacing Flutter-native features with
Web equivalents and reimplementing the BLoC pattern with React
Context + useReducer.

Highlights
- 1:1 BLoC -> Context+useReducer+side-effects mapping for auth, chat,
  user, and sidebar features (4 providers wired in root-providers.tsx)
- 500px MobileShell primitive eliminates per-screen layout boilerplate
- Headless Dialog primitive (createPortal + ESC + scroll lock) powers
  quota / pwa-install / username / pronouns / subscription / other-options
  dialogs
- New integrations/: facebook-sdk, google-identity, pwa-install,
  media-recorder (Web Speech API + MediaRecorder), browser-detect,
  chat-websocket (singleton), message-queue (throttled send)
- CSS Modules + existing design tokens (no new styling system);
  extended with breakpoints.css and dimensions.css
- Custom hooks: useBreakpoint (useSyncExternalStore),
  useFullVisibility (IntersectionObserver), usePwaInstall,
  usePullToRefresh
- Vitest + jsdom; 15 unit tests (chat-reducer, auth-validators)
- React 19.2.4, Next.js 16.2.7, Zod 4, lottie-react, classnames

Workarounds
- next.config.ts: experimental.staticGenerationRetryCount = 0 to
  bypass Next.js 16.2.7 /_global-error workStore prerender bug
- src/app/global-error.tsx: required Client Component
- src/types/globals.d.ts: centralized window.google / FB /
  SpeechRecognition declarations

Routes (/, /splash, /auth, /chat, /chat/deviceid/[deviceId],
/sidebar) all build and lint clean.

admin c767322db6 feat(routing): add App Router skeleton for splash/chat/auth/sidebar + proxy.ts
Wire the Flutter route map (lib/router/app_router.dart) to Next.js 16 App
Router. HTTP data layer and persistence layer are already complete; this
commit provides the UI surface and route guard that consumes them.

Routes (5 new page segments + 4 special files):
- /splash    Client: useAuthGate -> auto-redirect to /chat when authed
- /auth      Client: useAuthGate -> auto-redirect to /chat when authed
- /chat Client placeholder (no auth gate; guest mode allowed)
- /sidebar   Client placeholder with back-to-chat button
- /chat/deviceid/[deviceId] Server Component (await PageProps) + Client
  DeepLinkPersist child that writes deviceId+fbid to AuthStorage then
  router.replace('/chat')

Special files (root segment):
- loading.tsx Server: centered spinner fallback
- error.tsx      Client boundary using v16 `unstable_retry` prop
- not-found.tsx  Server: 404 with link back to /splash
- layout.tsx MOD: wrap children in <RootProviders>, add
  suppressHydrationWarning
- page.tsx       MOD: redirect('/splash') from server

Shared infrastructure:
- src/lib/routes.ts             typed ROUTES, ROUTE_BUILDERS,
  AUTH_ONLY_ROUTES, PUBLIC_ROUTES, Route union
- src/lib/auth/route-guards.ts  pure resolveAuthedRedirect/isAuthOnlyRoute
- src/lib/auth/use-auth-gate.tsx  useSyncExternalStore (not useEffect +
  setState) per React 19 react-hooks/set-state-in-effect rule
- src/lib/index.ts              hand-written barrel (skips use-auth-gate
  to keep Client-only code out of Server bundles)
- src/providers/root-providers.tsx  Client wrapper + <div id="toast-portal" />
- src/proxy.ts                  v16 proxy (NOT deprecated middleware.ts);
  cookie-only optimistic redirect from /splash,/auth to /chat when
  login_token cookie is present. No-op today (tokens live in localStorage);
  skeleton ready for future HttpOnly cookie migration per the
  auth_storage.ts TODO(security).

Conventions:
- AGENTS.md: read node_modules/next/dist/docs/ before writing code; v16
  breaking changes: middleware -> proxy, params/searchParams are Promises,
  PageProps<'/literal'> global helper, error boundary prop renamed
  `reset` -> `unstable_retry`.
- All placeholder UIs use the design tokens from src/app/globals.css
  (no new hex colors).
- No new runtime dependencies; no test framework added.
- src/lib/ NOT added to barrelsby.json (avoids pulling Client-only
  use-auth-gate into Server bundles).

Out of scope (handled separately):
- Real chat UI / auth form / sidebar widgets (deferred until repository
  layer is in place)
- HttpOnly cookie migration (auth_storage.ts TODO)
- Unification of sync/async AuthStorage (deep-link writes deviceId via
  sync singleton, fbid via StorageKeys.facebookId directly)
- Pre-existing data-layer barrel collision at src/data/storage/index.ts:10
  (acknowledged in replicated-mapping-creek.md)

Verified:
- pnpm next typegen: OK
- pnpm exec tsc --noEmit on new files: 0 errors
- pnpm lint: 0 errors, 0 warnings
- pnpm exec next build: blocked by pre-existing src/data/storage/index.ts
  barrel ambiguity (unrelated, see replicated-mapping-creek.md)
